Preganancy Update

I had a doctor’s appointment yesterday. I started off with the blood doctor, only to find out that my iron is even lower than expected. The normal numbers are somewhere between 40 and 210 and I have 4! No wonder the doctor keeps asking how I am able to get up and live a normal life. Honestly, the tiredness i feel at times are related to being in the shop and being on my feet for more than 8h straight and then coming home to two kids. Well and due to the fact that I have gained 19kg! I guess after my iron treatment I will be a true SUPERWOMAN! Anyway, so yesterday i had another iron transfusion and will keep having them for three more sessions. So I go back for my fix on Wednesday, Friday and next Monday. From them on I can pop the baby out and then we will begin our investigation as to why my levels are sooooo low. So baby needs to stay put for at least another week. I also forgot that one of the side effects is the muscle and joint pain - no wonder I couldn’t lift my leg last week so this means baby should really stay put at least until the 10th so that I have enough strength to deal with birth and all. I got to have an u/s as well yesterday and to our great relive baby is perfect (well, we knew this) but is growing very nicely. The say he now weighs aprox. 3.200g which is good and I really don’t need a heavier baby to push out!
So that’s our update. Tomorrow I will go back to Hospital for another session and will be taking it easy until the 10th of August.

Potty Training Kiko!

Have I mentioned that I have amazing kids? Kiko has decided that he has had it with diapers. He uses the potty all the time. He still goes to school with a diaper because in his classroom they are not prepared for potty training but the amazing think is he asks to pee in the toilet even when wearing a diaper. I feel so guilty for not insisting more on this but it is sor hard to take him to the toilet every 20 min (he will not usse a potty) and lift him and so on... I already have so much weight! Anyway, this morning he wakes up, gets out of bed on his own and joins us in our bed. He eventualy says he needs "xixi" so he takes his diaper out goes to our bathroom and calls me because he needs help to sit on the toilet. GENIOUS! Oh! I HAVE AMAZING KIDS!

My nights are close to unbearable

The pressure I have been feeling "down bellow" is to much for words. I can barley walk. I can’t even lift my leg to get into my car. Serves me right for buying a big and high car. These past two nights were terrible. And to make things worse, Sebastião still wakes up at night and all he wants is mummy. If Zé attends to him he will scream at the top of his lungs until I show up. In normal circumstances we would just let him cry it out but I can’t do it now because it would only add up to the hours of sleep I’m not getting anyway. So... all Sebastião wants is either a bottle or a cuddle and this happens once or twice a night somewhere between 2 and 5 a.m. He will then fall straight back to sleep until 8.30.
My question is... what do we do when the baby is born? Do I attend to the baby and to Sebastião? Should we split kids, as in baby for me and Kiko for Zé? I can just picture myself going insane... When Sebastião was born António already slept through the nigh so it was soooo easy. Help me out here those of you who had kids close in age. what was you night logistically like?

António is coming out of his shell

I don’t know what is happening with my son but it sure seems like he has had enough of being the quiet shy one around. He now actually greets people, even people he doesn’t know. He will talk to friends’ parents and he is as chatty to everyone as he has been with us at home. He even has his odd little explosive session where he may even sing and/or dance around. This is so not him, but certainly very amusing to see. I must confess that I was a bit apprehensive going to the photo session with him, but was I wrong! He was amazing and so outgoing and fun too. So here are a couple more pics from the session.

Pregnancy Update

I am just past 36wks pregnant so not to long to go now. My iron levels have gone way, way down so I now have to take some iron suplements directly through my blood until it goes up. If I don´t do this I may have to have a blood transfusion during or after birth so I started the iron intake last Friday. It took 3h just for 200ml of Iron. As strange as it might seem, I feel way more tired now than I did before. I feel as if I could sleep all day. Anyway, I will go back to the doctor on the 28th. First the blood doctor and then my OB. Vicente is doing fine, still moving a lot and overall I am doing fine too.
I had my professional photo session and the photos are amazing. I will be posting them soon, well some.

We Love Summer

Kiko just loves to jump into the water. He is the diving maniac but not to keen on the water temperture. He absolutely screems at the top of his lungs until his body temperture adapts. Its actualy quite funny.

I just can´t get over how grown up António looks like. He is great company and even though Kiko can really get on his nerve he is an amazing big brother.
Well, I used to love summer... now I am not so sure! 35 weeks pregnant, heavy, fat and swollen isn´t the ideal condition to be in when hot weather arrives. I will take it as it goes. Not really ready to have this baby just yet. António and Sebastião have had some fun pool days and they actualy behave very well. I am very lucky. I have super kids! António can now (well, I won´t call it swim) throw himslef into the pool without drowning and Kiko is fine with his arm bands, which means I can relax if I find the right position to do so!

I have also decided that I want a tanned belly so now I am wearing a biquini. Better HUGE and tanned - at least I now look fat and healthy! I am brave enough to post a picture, just need someone to take it for me.

End of School Year for the boys!

The boys were the best! António is a natural and kiko, well... he’s kiko! Their teachers organized a small play about a king who had Donkey ears. Kiko played a knight and António was the "Saltibancos" and even played some instruments. He did so well and was / is so serious about his role. Needless to say his parents were ever so proud.

Back in Action

Sorry for my absence. Life is too busy at times. Kids are sick free and doing fine. Managed to get a last peek of Vicente (32 week scan). Everything is perfect. He´s on the big side but don´t really want to think about it yet because for the very first time I don´t feel ready to give birth. Its like my body hasn´t fully recovered. I know this probably doesn´t make sense because a little over two years have passed since I last did it but I am not at all prepared. I am prepared for a newborn (well, there is no other way LOL) but not popping it out! Sebastião still has a bottle during the night and I am not prepared to make him quit cold turkey so I get up EVERY NIGHT to give him his bottle. He also still takes his binky to bed and that will remain until I feel ready unless he beats me to it! We have finished the re-arranging rooms’ process so now each boy has his own room. Just need to sort out clothes for all of them. António and Sebastião are thrilled with their new rooms so that makes me happy to. I am doing fine. Very tired and heavy but what can you expect with two children and hot weather?! We have managed some pool time and to be honest the kids really behave themselves, so it is possible to take them both on my own. I have tons of pics and will post them with details.
